It was 1978 when the Berkeley-based Dana Hickerson and Christina Pearson first conceived of starting an answering service in their favorite seaside town, Santa Cruz.
Driving down on a sunny August day, they immediately found the perfect place - a two-bedroom Mission Street house with an added office - and started to work.
Four months later, Pacific Bell workers arrived, installed a new phone poll and strung a massive multi-line cable over the roadway.

And Quicksilver Voice Mail was born. Soon, it was humming along with a bank of Telescan equipment, 14 operators and big brochures.
In time, operators gave way to automatic equipment and office locations changed several times, but Quicksilver Voice Mail continues to be a community contributor to this day.
Having given services free of charge to Save Our Shores, the AIDS Hotline and many other organizations, Quicksilver remains, over three decades later, woven into the community as a respected locally-owned business and service-giver to customers throughout the Santa Cruz area. Customers just like yourself.
